What's new in Hyde.

New draft help, deck tracking improvements, platform releases and fixes for the Hyde MTG Arena companion.

feat: reliable gameplay state, zones and public companion signals (#17)

  • Track current zones and public events; retain honest coverage, strict privacy and signed catalog compatibility. Verified SPEC, quality, 23 local gates and controlled recorded native QA.

Draft overlays that fit horizontal and vertical views

  • Added separate badge grids for horizontal (deck below) and vertical (deck right) Arena draft layouts, using measured card positions.
  • On macOS, Auto reads Arena's local layout preference without screen capture. Choose Deck below or Deck right when the preference is unavailable.
  • Saved badge alignment is separate for each view, window size and display scale. Existing vertical alignments are preserved.
  • Resizing the companion keeps it inside the monitor work area, and compact header controls remain accessible. The mini recommendation and title-bar collapse remain separate controls.
  • Changing layouts during alignment safely cancels unsaved anchors rather than mixing profiles. Card ratings and signed data snapshots are unchanged.
  • Verified with 350 Rust tests, 13 frontend gates, independent SPEC and quality reviews, and WebKit browser checks. A new live Arena session has not yet been validated; Windows and Linux remain beta pending live runtime validation.
  • This overlay fix requires an app update.

More reliable offline deck suggestions and replayable drafts

  • Draft build suggestions now use card rules already included with the downloaded ratings when the local rules cache is empty.
  • Basic lands and other cards outside the rating list retain their identity from Arena's locally installed card data. Card ratings are unchanged.
  • The browser simulator now accepts seed zero and rejects malformed or oversized seeds instead of silently starting a different draft. Previously accepted positive seeds keep their draft sequences.
  • Added private recorded-log regression checks covering draft recommendations, a 40-card suggested deck, game deck tracking, correct match attribution, saved-result readback and duplicate rejection. The checks leave the user's original history untouched.
  • Verified with a recorded 42-pick journey and separate complete 45-pick browser practice drafts, not a new live Arena session. Live log tailing and native window placement remain outside this headless check; Windows and Linux packages remain beta pending live Arena validation.
  • The offline draft-build improvements require an app update. The browser seed fix is already available online.

Fix desktop practice-draft catalog mismatch

  • Fixed desktop practice drafts rejecting valid signed card ratings with a catalog identity mismatch. Limited ratings now work across their supported draft queues without requiring the catalog label to equal the queue name.
  • Preserved rejection of wrong-set, incompatible-format and changed-revision catalogs, with new native start-and-pick regression coverage for Reality Fracture and The Hobbit.
  • This is an application bug fix and requires updating Hyde. The existing Reality Fracture rating refresh remains a separate data update; no card ratings or signed data snapshots are changed by this fix.

Reality Fracture rating refresh

  • Reviewed all 280 Reality Fracture cards and updated 260 card-strength ratings, including corrected immediate play lines and more consistent land-cycle ratings.
  • The desktop companion, browser simulator and tier list share the updated ratings. Existing v0.4.2 desktop clients can load this signed rating update without an app download.
  • Drafts already in progress keep their previous ratings. New drafts use the update after refresh; offline clients retain their last downloaded ratings.
  • These are source-informed editorial judgments, not proven win-rate predictions. Existing archetype and drafted-pool fit profiles are unchanged.

feat: signed remote catalogs and reviewed FRA ratings (#7)

  • Reviewed release tree verified by SPEC and independent code-quality gates; authenticated set/rating updates, pinned drafts, signed cache and fallback snapshots.

Reality Fracture card display fixes

  • Restored Reality Fracture card names, mana costs and artwork in the deck tracker instead of bare numeric labels.
  • Read Arena's installed card metadata locally before optional network lookups; corrected mana values and land classification.
  • Matched artwork to the same card printing and rejected unapproved image hosts.
  • Connected existing reviewed ratings to verified Arena card identities without changing the rating methodology or card scores.
  • Verified with the reported card IDs and real artwork in a controlled source replay, not a new live Arena match. Desktop downloads remain beta; Windows and Linux await live Arena runtime validation.

Better draft guidance, new tier lists and a new Hyde identity

  • Added reviewed Reality Fracture and The Hobbit card ratings for Draft and Sealed, with public game results shown separately when available.
  • Added searchable, card-first Limited tier lists and expanded the free browser simulator with complete 45-pick practice drafts.
  • Improved pool-aware pick explanations, post-draft builds and fail-closed consistency between the desktop companion and browser simulator.
  • Introduced Hyde's black-cat shield across the website, desktop companion and native application icons.
  • Rewrote the public site around player outcomes, clearer privacy boundaries and current set coverage. Card recommendations remain beta guidance and are not presented as independently expert-validated.

Maintenance release 0.3.4

  • Updated the public beta build and release packages.

Maintenance release 0.3.3

  • Updated the public beta build and release packages.

Correct mana costs in active deck rows

  • Backfilled full mana-payment metadata for active deck rows so costs such as {2}{R} no longer collapse to color identity.

More reliable pack detection across draft modes

  • Hyde now resolves each logged pack independently, handles more draft formats, and gives more reliable multicolour and final-deck recommendations.

LCI ratings and mechanic-aware draft coaching

  • Correction after source-policy review: 285 Lost Caverns of Ixalan cards retain ratings from 823,614 public 17Lands games; low-sample cards use the native rarity fallback without third-party card-level data.
  • Labelled LCI's Nov–Dec 2023 PremierDraft snapshot as historical data, not live results. The native PremierDraft snapshot works offline.
  • Added pool-aware guidance for artifacts, descend, explore and Maps, craft, Pirates, Dinosaurs, Caves, sacrifice themes and discover.
  • Kept rating sources visible through practice drafts and final deck summaries, with the same mechanic explanations in the browser and desktop overlay.
  • Craft/discover assessments describe drafted support, not guaranteed game-state outcomes. Final deck construction remains a generic color/curve/role optimizer, not an exhaustive LCI combo solver.
  • macOS Apple Silicon, Windows x64, and Linux x64 packages are built by native CI runners. Windows/Linux remain beta and were not live-Arena tested for this release. macOS is not Apple-notarized; follow the documented first-launch instructions.

Maintenance release 0.2.7

  • Updated the public beta build and release packages.

Deck-build guidance and overlay polish

  • Post-draft deck builds now show card-rating totals and averages, deck health, archetype guidance, curve warnings, mana costs and card art.
  • Curve-aware selection combines with approved 17Lands evidence to improve draft recommendations.
  • The tray can reopen a retained draft build, while deck summaries stay opaque and content-fitted.
  • Card previews remain above the draft badge layer instead of badges painting over preview cards.

Collapsed deck panel no longer blocks clicks

  • The collapsed deck panel now stays out of the way while you play.

Reversible draft details and verdict-first recommendations

  • Expanded draft details now have a visible Collapse control.
  • The compact strip surfaces Clear pick, Close pick, or Preferred pick before secondary detail.

Decision-first draft overlay and measured badge details

  • The compact draft panel leads with one recommendation, then shows a focused ranking and explanation.
  • Draft badges use measured Arena-relative placement, clamped detail popups, stable hover feedback, and stale clearing between packs.
  • Stable platform download aliases are refreshed after signed builds succeed.

Opaque companion panels and version visibility

  • The tray Show Overlay action reliably brings the companion back into view.
  • Dashboard and draft panels now use opaque surfaces for readable content over Arena.
  • The running app version is visible in the dashboard, with SOS native draft coaching and suggested deck logging covered by desktop tests.

Draft power and suggested decks

  • SOS draft coaching uses the native model and rarity fallback when approved empirical evidence is unavailable.
  • Base card ratings remain separate from recommendations for your current pool.
  • Post-draft suggested decks are rendered as full decklists.

Signed automatic updates

  • Hyde can receive signed automatic updates for stable releases.
  • The release pipeline publishes updater manifests and platform artifacts to the stable download aliases.

Dashboard views, dedicated draft simulator, and in-game draw log

  • The Companion dashboard gained separate Overview, Match history, My decks, Rank progress, and Draft simulator views.
  • The draft simulator became a dedicated view with an Abandon-draft control and live overlay mirroring.
  • Recent draws now show the full per-game history, including the opening hand and every draw.

Platform downloads and native tray icon

  • Free beta builds became available for Apple Silicon macOS, Windows x64, and Linux x64.
  • The release added a native NSIS installer for Windows and an AppImage for Linux.
  • The landing page gained platform-specific download instructions.

Accurate card data and card frames

  • 17Lands cards now join to Scryfall metadata by card name, restoring mana cost, CMC, colours, type, rarity, set, and image data without overwriting richer local data.
  • Deck and draft rows gained real mana glyphs, colour rails, and rare/mythic frame cues.
  • Detailed Logs setup was documented for every platform.

First public beta: draft simulator and live overlay

  • Practice full drafts from the Companion with seeded packs, power shields, and per-pick coaching.
  • The live overlay provided pack rankings with reasons, land-drop odds, pick recaps, and deck summaries.
  • The beta was local-first: it read Arena's Player.log read-only, required no account, and uploaded nothing.
